Forklift Parts Killeen - Killeen is located in Bell County and presently has a population of approximately 140,021. Over the past ten years Killeen City has gone through significant growth. During 2000, the population was only 86,911. By the year 2009, it was 119,510 and in the year 2010 the population had reached 127,921. Killeen is one of the principle cities of the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Originally, the area which Killeen City currently occupies was a farming community called Palo Alto. Palo Alto had been around ever since the year 1872. The Gulf, Santa Fe and Colorado Railway purchased 360 acres of land in 1881, including the land where Palo Alto was located. They created a 70-block town on the land. The town was named after the assistant general manager of railroad, Frank P. Killeen. Killeen City prospered, and by the next year a salon, railroad depot, a school and several stores had been developed. Some residents from nearby communities relocated to the city of Killeen and by 1884 the population had increased to approximately 350 people. During this time, the city of Killeen had five general stores, two gristmills, two cotton gins, two saloons, a lumberyard, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel.

Fort Hood is situated just beside the city of Killeen. As a result, the economy in the city of Killeen is heavily dependent on the soldiers stationed at the Fort. Fort Hood is the area's largest employer.
